Gavin Wunderlin

Through Gavin Wunderlin’s high school career and earlier ages, he found the love for a sport he wanted to continue to play through college.

“I have wanted to play college basketball since I was in middle school. I started playing basketball when I was young. It was just something I liked to do. Once I got into middle school, I really started to put more time into practicing and getting better. I think it took off from there. I thought it was fun; it gave me a little bit of adrenaline playing versus other teams, and I enjoyed getting to perform my talent in front of other people and parents. As I got older, it just became more fun, and I felt more of the adrenaline when I played.”

Gavin is majoring in Environmental Studies while also playing basketball for Edgewood College in Madison, WI.

Gavin has gained many life skills from playing basketball. “I have gained many things from playing basketball. It taught me teamwork, perseverance, discipline, problem-solving, and resilience. These things help me in my day-to-day life. Without these things, I would not deal with problems as well as I do.”

Gavin made some of his favorite memories playing basketball with his Potosi High School basketball team, and he misses his team deeply. “I miss all of high school basketball. The people you play with are the guys you got to grow up around, and that alone adds a lot of meaning to playing. I also miss getting to represent the town, school, and community I am from. I miss putting my jersey on, going to the court with all my friends, and giving it our best. I miss the student sections that represented the Potosi school and community. I miss going to practice and messing around with all my friends, doing dumb stuff together.”

Gavin does not play much as a freshman but he is dedicated and putting in the work. He hopes to get more playing time in the next few years as he enjoys being part of the team.
