boys basketball tema

As of 2024, Potosi and Cassville have Co-oped for every sport except basketball and volleyball, and in 2025 and 2026, Potosi and Cassville schools are expecting to co-op for boys basketball as well.

Potosi and Cassville have had a history as rivals, but in recent years have joined forces in sports. Football co-oped in 2017, followed by baseball, track, and girls basketball in 2018. In 2019 softball co-oped. After next year, Cassville will not have enough players to have a 5-man team for boys basketball. By the 2025-26 season, Cassville will not be able to have a full varsity team, and may only have a few players that will play the sport.

Potosi and Cassville’s middle schools already joined together this year for their boys basketball season. In addition, many high school sports have also joined together already. In the 2025-26 season, boys basketball will be added to this list, and volleyball will be the only sport left in Potosi with the “Chieftain” identity.

While losing the identity of the Potosi Chieftains is unfortunate, there is also lots of opportunity to be found in helping out Cassville in their future player shortage. Mr. Uppena says that co-oping with Cassville is a good way to help our neighbors who are unable to have a full basketball team. The co-op for basketball will also add on to our basketball program’s numbers, which will decrease once the class of 2025 graduates. Cassville’s players should add to the already successful Potosi Basketball team, which this year won a regional championship.
